Security verification: codes, resend and errors
Security verification (codes before sensitive actions)
Before a sensitive action BYNAI shows a "Security Verification" screen. It says "Complete security verification to continue". You may have to complete one or several checks. Which checks appear depends on your account and the action; the app shows exactly the methods that are required.
When it appears
- Turning 2FA off.
- Setting or changing your Anti-Phishing Code.
- Changing your password.
- Setting or changing your fund password.
- Making a withdrawal ("Security Verification" window on the Withdraw page).
- Turning the withdrawal whitelist on or off, and adding or removing a whitelist address.
- Signing in to an account that has extra verification (the sign-in screen shows "Security Verification", "Verifying as" and "Back to sign in").
The verification methods
| Label on screen | What you enter |
|---|---|
| Authenticator App | "Enter the 6-digit code from your authenticator app" |
| Email Verification | "Enter the 6-digit code sent to" your email (masked address shown). If no address is shown: "Enter the 6-digit code from your email" |
| SMS Verification | "Enter the 6-digit code sent to" your phone (masked number shown). If none is shown: "Enter the 6-digit code from SMS" |
| Fund Password | "Enter your fund password" |
A progress line ("Verification progress", or "Step" with the current and total numbers (for example, step 1 of 2)) shows how many checks are done. Verified checks show Verified. You must complete all checks to continue.
Step by step
- For Email or SMS click Send Code (some screens say Send OTP or send it automatically). You see "Code sent to" followed by where it went.
- Enter the code and click Verify.
- Repeat for each remaining check.
- When every check is done the action completes (for example "Success").
Resend
After a code is sent you can request another with Resend Code, but only after the timer ends. The button counts down as "Resend in" followed by the seconds left and the timer is 60 seconds. You can also use "Didn't receive the code?" > Resend.
If the code does not arrive, check spam or junk folders, check that the email address or number shown is correct and still yours, wait for the timer, and resend. Only the newest code should be used.
Messages
| Message | Meaning / what to do |
|---|---|
| "attempts remaining" with the number left (shown with an Error notice) | The code was wrong. Enter the correct current code. What happens when attempts run out is decided by the server; wait, start the action again, or contact Support. |
| "Invalid code." followed by the number of attempts remaining | Same, on the sign-in verification screen. |
| "Failed to start verification. Try again." | The checks could not be created. Close the window and retry the action. |
| "Failed to send verification code. Try again." | The code could not be sent. Wait for the timer and press Resend Code. |
| "Verification failed. Try again." | The code could not be confirmed. Check the code and retry. |
| "No verification methods available." | No method could be offered. Contact Support. |
| "Failed to initiate verification. Try again." / "Failed to request verification. Try again." | The check could not begin. Retry; if repeated, contact Support. |
| "Verification session expired. Try again." | The check timed out. Start the action again. |
Some messages come from the server and are shown as received (for example a reason why a code cannot be sent). Quote them exactly to Support.
Tips
- Authenticator codes expire quickly; enter the one currently displayed.
- Codes are valid only for the action you started. Starting again creates new codes.
- If you lose access to a method, see the 2FA article.
FAQ
Q: Why am I asked for the same type of code twice? A: Some actions require several different checks, each shown as its own step.
Q: The email code never arrives. A: See the Resend section above. If the email address on the Security page is not yours or no longer works, contact Support.
Q: I ran out of attempts. A: Wait a while and start the action again to get a fresh verification. If it keeps failing contact Support.
When to contact Support
Open the chat widget and choose "Contact support" (or open the Help Center and start a chat there). Include:
- Your account email or UID (shown on your profile).
- What you were trying to do and the exact message you saw (a screenshot helps).
- The approximate date and time it happened and the device or browser you used.
- Never include your password, fund password, 2FA codes, backup codes, seed phrase or private key.
- The action you were doing and the exact message (including the "attempts remaining" text).
